Graduating from Yale University with a B.A. in Architecture in 2005, Kirk initiated his career at Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects in New Haven, USA. He then followed his passion for sustainability and holistic design to Atelier Ten environmental design consultancy in New York City, earned his LEED AP, and served as the project manager on the LEED Gold Comcast Center tower in downtown Philadelphia. Following a stint at the Skidmore Owings and Merrill Sustainable Studio in Washington, D.C., he was awarded a U.S. Fulbright Research Grant to Turkey to study opportunities in Turkish sustainable design and development. He subsequently held the position of Sustainability Coordinator jointly at AvciArchitects and Urbanista for over 2 years, and has recently become Envisioning and Development Manager at Urbanista. Kirk is also an Anusara-trained instructor of hatha yoga in Istanbul.
Kirk has enjoyed living and working in downtown Istanbul, Turkey since 2008. He previously lived in New York City and New Haven, and is originally a native of the city of Washington, D.C.
